The Anthracite Heritage Museum and Scranton Iron Furnaces tell the histories of the thousands and thousands of people who migrated to north east Pennsylvania to take part in the first wave of industrialization in the United States. Our anthracite coal fields, collieries, and mines ushered in the first significant development in iron and railroads in the country paving the way to the United States of today.
